Written at a time of personal conflict and anguish, the verses in Ek Kapurush ke Geet by Perumal Murugan, sensitively and beautifully translated into Hindi by Mohan Varma, portray the poet's inner turbulence. In times of despair, the only refuge of a writer is to write, not for the world, but for himself. Therefore, in these poems, a man runs from words, a tormented soul laments the loss of a homeland, a king orders all humans to be skinned alive. The poems in this collection are angry yet tender, passionate yet scornful, haunting yet courageous, reflecting the myriad emotions the writer was going through at the time. "
